Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

그대, 편안히 깊은 잠에 들지 마오.

나이 든 이는 하루가 끝나감에 분노하고 소리쳐야 함이 마땅하오.

저 빛이 꺼져감에 분노하고 또 분노하시오. 

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

지혜로운 이들은 마지막 날에 결국 이 어둠이 당연함을

그들의 말이 번개처럼 번쩍이지 못하였음을 알기에,

편안히 깊은 잠에 들 수 없다오. 

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

착한 이들은 인생의 끝물에 자신의 유약한 지난 날에
푸른 바다의 끝에서 춤을 췄다면 얼마나 빛났을까 생각하며 울 뿐이오.

그러니, 편안히 깊은 잠에 들지 마오. 

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,

거칠은 이는 날아가는 태양을 보며 찬양하나
결국 태양을 저무는 것임을 슬퍼하며 배우고는,

편안히 깊은 잠에 들 수 없다오. 

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

그러나 임종을 앞둬 두 눈이 먼 이의 
캄캄한 눈동자는 유성처럼 찬연히 불타오르니
그대여, 저 빛이 꺼져감에 분노하고 또 분노하시오. 

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

그리고 나의 하느님. 너무나도 슬프신 우리 아버지시여. 

기도드리오니 당신의 넘치는 눈물로 저를 축복해주소서.
